Presentations WITH Audio

Presentations are defined as PowerPoint presentations, slide decks, Storyline presentations, etc. that do not have moving images

NOTE: Presentations in a video format without moving images
are not “videos” for the purpose of providing captions.

Transcripts provide a media alternative for individuals with hearing loss. At Orbis, we use basic or indexed transcripts.
  1. If the audio is simply reading text-only slides word for word, a transcript may not be needed. Captions are not needed because there are no moving images and the text on slides serves as captions since no additional information is added in the audio.
  2. If the audio is some combination of text and non-decorative images (not video), and narrated information is shared in addition to what is on the screen a transcript is needed. The transcript needs to correlate to the images as a reference point, or complete notes for each slide are included and are available to the student (e.g., the slide number referenced, or a thumbnail of the slide added throughout the transcript). Captions may be required if there are non-decorative moving images with an audio track.
