New version of BigBlueButton rolling out starting Dec 12th

Hi Everyone,

Christmas is coming early for BigBlueButton

BigBlueButton has been working on a number of updates that will be going live on their production servers starting on Tuesday, Dec 12th, next week

What's new

In the updated version, instructors will now have

  1.  a stopwatch/timer to help manage activities in the meeting

  2. the ability to set a camera as the main presentation area, such as bringing focus to a webcam pointed a physical whiteboard, and

  3. grid layout for group collaboration.

Also, all users now have a new emoji bar with animations (learning should be a bit fun).

For a short video overview of these new features check out:

Please share the above video with others.

Rollout Schedule

  1. Canada Region: Tuesday, Dec 12
  2. Europe and Asia Pacific Region: Wednesday, Dec 13
  3. North America Region: Thursday, Dec 14

The updates will be seamless – any existing meetings on the older versions will continue while new meetings will automatically start on the newer version.

Warm regards,... Fred
