What Is Our Policy?

Accessibility Statement

The Orbis Education Accessibility Policy for Digital Course Assets contains our standards based on guidelines for web-delivered content. This policy covers all Orbis produced and maintained digital course assets uploaded to the LMS, delivered from the Orbis Learning Object Repository (LOR), or otherwise distributed electronically to registered students in an Orbis-supported course.

The Orbis Accessibility Conformance Reports (ACR) describe how Orbis digital products meet the Revised 508 Standards for IT accessibility. The ACR is part of the accessibility expectations Orbis executive leadership reviews with all partners. Reports exist for Learning ObjectsExtended Reality (XR) Assets, and the Electronic Hospital Records Simulation.

Transcription & Captioning Policy

Orbis best practices regarding course design and the Orbis ADA compliance checklist describe Orbis requirements for recorded video and audio lectures. This includes creating lectures of an appropriate length and content, as well as providing a transcript or captions.*

For Orbis-created content (for example, learning objects), we will provide transcripts or captions as appropriate. For partner-created material (for example, course lectures), Orbis does not provide the transcripts or caption files. Partner-created materials should be supported by partner resources.

At this time, Orbis does support student accommodation requests as needed. These decisions are made by executive leadership with the partner.

*Reach out to your instructional designer if you have any questions about whether your video requires a transcript or captions.
