We continue our spotlight— Product Development
*Product Development is dedicated to creating cutting-edge products that help Orbis Education foster relationships
with students, universities, and healthcare systems.
*The Team’s expertise in digital art, web development, extended reality, and video production is utilized in the creation of
innovative educational programs helping to further the Orbis Education mission.
3D Development & Animation
We create anatomical renderings, unique characters,
environments, and animation required for many of our custom learning
activities.
Sometimes what students need most is clarity, an
animation that shows a process, a video that demonstrates a skill, or an image
that removes ambiguity. That’s where our media work comes in.
In addition to supporting our larger simulation products and
LOs, our team develops standalone digital assets including videos, audio clips,
animations, and custom images for instructors. These assets provide a
consistent, high-quality alternative to pulling whatever materials happen to be
available online.
Because these visuals are purpose built and created inhouse,
they ensure accuracy, avoid copyright concerns, and maintain a unified look
across course materials.
Extended Reality (AR/MR/VR)
We develop custom simulations through the use of Unity and Mixed Reality (MR) and Virtual Reality (VR) headsets.
System Support
We support team members and systems, including the Learning Object Repository, streaming video, hardware and software setup, inventory management, and simulation equipment maintenance and shipping.
Web & Software Development
We create custom learning objects and applications using modern online development platforms, ensuring they are responsive, ADA compliant, and well-designed.
Video Production
We create custom photo, video, and audio content to support student learning, learning objects (LOs), and corporate initiatives across Orbis. We capture and edit photography and video, while also coordinating, recording, and producing voiceovers and audio for academic and marketing purposes.
Systems, Applications and Content
A sample of what we test, support, and troubleshoot
|
- EHR / MDU
| - Electronic Health Record (EHR)
- Medication Dispensing Unit (MDU)
- The Orbis EHR and MDU applications provide students with a simulated, comprehensive environment to practice and document nursing assessments. These tools also support the interpretation of lab values and the verification of medication rights during documentation of medication administration, offering hands-on experience in a simulation lab setting.
|
|
- Embedded Streaming Videos
| Streaming video and other multimedia content are hosted independently and embedded within learning objects and course content as appropriate.
|
- Intranet
| - Our Intranet hosts a multitude of applications such as XR Scheduling, SOS Assistant Application, Time Tracker, Faculty Training and Development, Opportunity Cost Calculator, and our content delivery network (CDN).
|
|
- Light Audio / Photo Editing
| Supports light design work, along with image, audio, and video editing, primarily for internal use.
|
|
- LOR / LTI Access or Issues
| - Learning Object Repository
(LOR)
- We maintain a repository of developed activities referred to as learning objects (LOs) that can be used by partners within their learning management systems. The learning objects enhance courses and optimize learning experiences. They are tagged and categorized by program mapping and type, course category, Bloom's taxonomy, and key words for optimal search and organization within the repository.
- Learning Tools
Interoperability (LTI)
Securely connects external educational applications (tools)
to a Learning Management System (LMS) like Canvas, Moodle, or Blackboard
without requiring separate logins. It enables seamless single sign-on (SSO),
passes user data securely, and syncs grades automatically.

- XR Scheduling & SOS Assistant Support for Simulations
| - The
XR Scheduling System supports the scheduling, setup, and shipment of
equipment kits, including return shipping instructions, based on
request. Training is provided through a portal for the SOS Assistant via
an application used to manage and run scheduled simulations.
- Additionally, several interactive simulations (e.g., Phillips
Mental Health Mixed Reality Simulation, Scott ED (VR) Simulation,
Johnson Newborn Assessment Mixed Reality Simulation (to name a few)) are
supported through the XR Scheduling System, which enables coordination,
scheduling, and delivery of immersive simulation experiences.
