What Are Milestone Checks?

There are three (3) milestone checkpoints for new and redeveloped courses. At each checkpoint, the instructional design manager or QA staff evaluates how well the deliverable for that checkpoint meets the quality standards outlined in the Course Design QA Rubric. For each milestone check, review notes and the score sheet summarize findings and recommendations. The three deliverables evaluated are:
  1. Course Design Map. Maps module objectives, content, and assignments to course objectives. This ensures alignment of instructional materials, practice exercises, assessments, and resources for each module. 
  2. Course Build Document. Detailed storyboard and development instructions for building the course in the learning management system (LMS). (This document is reviewed when applicable).
  3. LMS Implementation.  The complete course ready in the LMS for faculty and student use.
