What Are the Best Practices for Digital Assets?

If you are submitting a request for captions, transcripts, or a media alternative, the digital asset must meet these ADA Compliance Checklist and Orbis Best Practices items:
  1. Recorded material is accompanied by a transcript or script of the audio track.
  2. Images that provide content are accompanied by alt text descriptions.
  3. Presentation materials enrich the content in the course materials or other resources and address bottleneck concepts. Does not simply “read the book” to the students in a different format (e.g., narrating the accompanying slide decks from the publisher).
  4. Length of lecture-type materials is limited to 5–7 minutes for a module, lesson, or set of key concepts. Focuses on application, synthesis of module content, and/or clarification of difficult concepts.
  5. Materials have been vetted for copyright and appropriate fair use.
